I’d been to New York on several previous occasions, but this time I was able to see this fantastic city with more of a local’s perspective, staying as a guest of Cecilia and Jason in their Upper East side apartment. Away from the tourist centre, local bars, bakeries and markets - not to mention buzzing between them in cabs - gave the city a reality that made me feel very comfortable.
